I can tell you something about this place. The boys around here call it “The Black Lagoon” – a paradise. Only they say nobody has ever come back to prove it.

Oh wait. Wrong lagoon, sorry about that.

It’s almost 10pm here and it’s still light out. Midnight Sun.

Night. My hotel is on the left.

So this is real time I guess as it’s still Monday. I’m hoping to put my head down after a hot shower. Today was Blue Lagoon day. I must say it was very nice. I was worried it might be crowded and I saw a full tour bus heading that way yesterday. Today it was just a small van. There were people but it was not very crowded. In the morning it was still cloudy with lots of steam and mist so it had an ethereal quality to it. The closer you get to the rocks the water gets very much warmer. Moving about you can find your sweet spot or go back and forth. I found the second bar at the far end which never got crowded and I had, well, it was green. And tasty.

I didn’t take my camera. I just wanted to relax. Which I did. The warm water and the minerals just felt so nice. Then I treated myself to lunch, and champagne and chocolates.

I’ve seen this movie.
Outside the spa.
From the cafe.
The steam in the background is from the geothermal source.
Well, why not?

  • Don McGrain on I always pad my travel times in case of delays etc. I gave myself 3 hrs to get from Union Station in DC to the airport. One hour has already been burned up by Amtrak running an hour late. I also just discovered that the Metro in DC doesn’t go to the airport? Last leg is by bus. Starting to think I’ll be lucky to make the flight.
